Advocacy
The impact of the GSIC’s efforts extends beyond The Gambia, campaigning for human rights and fair representation of Muslims throughout the world. The council engages the Muslim populace to advocate for them on pertinent Islamic issues as well as societal and cultural issues. By educating and empowering the community, the council ensures that the voices of Gambian Muslims are heard and that their rights and concerns are taken into consideration.
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression” (Quran 5:2)
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives” (Quran 4:135)
“And speak for justice and speak for the good and follow the way of him who turns to Me. Then to Me will be your return, and I will inform you about what you used to do” (Quran 28:17)
The council organizes educational workshops, seminars, and conferences to educate the community on their rights, and how to advocate for them effectively. The council also provides resources and support to help community members to take action on issues that affect them. Through its proactive outreach, the council ensures that the community is informed and equipped to advocate for themselves and their community.
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression” (Quran 5:2)

The GSIC also works closely with other organizations, both Islamic and non-Islamic, to amplify the voice of Gambian Muslims and advocate for their rights on a broader scale. This collaboration helps to ensure that the concerns of the Muslim community are heard and addressed at all levels of society.
