GSIC President meets UAE AWQAF Chairman

His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtour Al-Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE), received His Excellency Essa Foday Darboe, President of the Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC), at the Authority’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. He welcomed him and expressed his gratitude for the visit, emphasizing that it reflects the growing relations between the two countries in various fields at both leadership and public levels.

During the meeting, cooperation in Religious Affairs between the two sides was strengthened, along with ways to support efforts in promoting tolerance, coexistence, and spreading peace among nations. This is to be achieved through the exchange of expertise and research, as well as organizing training courses for those engaged in religious discourse under the supervision of the Authority.

For his part, Sheikh Essa Foday Darboe praised the humanitarian efforts of the United Arab Emirates worldwide. He expressed admiration for the Authority’s achievements and the exemplary way it manages religious affairs, particularly in adopting technology to deliver its services to communities both locally and internationally. He also expressed his desire to benefit from the UAE’s experience and enhance coordination and communication with them.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Ahmed Rashid Al-Neyadi, Director General of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments, and Zakat, along with several officials from both sides.
