GSIC Executive Concludes Productive Retreat for Year-End Review and 2022 Action Planning

The Gambia Supreme Islamic Council (GSIC) Executive Committee recently embarked on a two-day retreat at Kartong, dedicated to reviewing the year’s activities and formulating an action plan for the upcoming year. Held from December 26th to 27th, 2021, the retreat provided a focused environment for strategic discussions and collaborative planning.

The retreat brought together the GSIC’s top leadership, including President Sheikh Essa Foday Darbo, along with Vice Presidents, Secretaries, and other key members of the Executive Committee. The serene surroundings of Kartong provided an ideal backdrop for reflection, analysis, and productive conversations.

The primary objective of the retreat was to assess the progress, achievements, and challenges of the past year’s initiatives. Participants engaged in candid discussions about the council’s accomplishments, community engagements, and the impact of various programs on the Islamic community and society at large.

With the year-end activity report writing as a central focus, the retreat offered an opportunity for the GSIC’s leadership to compile comprehensive reports that reflect the council’s contributions and outcomes throughout the year. These reports serve as valuable resources for stakeholders, donors, and the community to gain insights into the council’s activities.

Additionally, the retreat served as a platform for the executive team to chart a course for the year ahead. An action plan for 2022 was developed, encompassing key projects, initiatives, and goals aimed at furthering the GSIC’s mission of promoting Islamic values, education, and community welfare.

Sheikh Essa Foday Darbo, the President of the GSIC, expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of the retreat. He highlighted the importance of strategic planning and collaboration in ensuring the council’s continued positive impact on the Islamic community and Gambian society.

The retreat’s conclusion marked a crucial milestone in the council’s journey, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. The insights gained and the action plan developed during the retreat is expected to guide the GSIC’s efforts in the coming year, ensuring that it remains a driving force for positive change and unity within The Gambia.

As the GSIC’s leadership returns from Kartong, the lessons learned and the plans made during the retreat will undoubtedly shape the council’s activities, ensuring that its programs align with the needs and aspirations of the Islamic community while contributing to the nation’s progress.
